When a seedling is 4 weeks old (if we are not in a heatwave or drought), you can apply your first mineral fertilizer before a 15mm rainfall. We recommend continuing with a regular fertilizer application program. It is also important that your soil pH is as balanced as possible, to maximize the effectiveness of your fertilizer applications and to maintain a healthy lawn.
It is important to ensure you have at least 6 inches of topsoil under the grass to maintain a healthy lawn and maximize water retention in the soil.
Excellent question — there is indeed a significant difference between our fertilizers and standard products found on the market.
Our Vert Élite fertilizers are agricultural-grade, used directly in sod production for over 50 years. Unlike many commercial fertilizers, they are 100% active, meaning they contain no unnecessary fillers (often just rock), ensuring maximum efficiency with every application.
In addition, our nutrients are more concentrated, allowing for better absorption by the lawn. In practical terms, this means less product (kg) is required to cover the same area, while delivering superior results.
Our formulations are also enriched with calcium, sulfur, and magnesium — essential elements often absent from standard fertilizers, but critical for:
soil health
nutrient absorption
lawn density and color
Our products are specifically developed for Quebec and Canadian climate conditions, and are tested directly in our sod fields.
In summary, you get a fertilizer that is:
more concentrated
free of unnecessary fillers (no rock)
more efficient with lower application rates
better balanced
designed to deliver long-lasting, professional results
