- Remove debris and weeds, then rake the soil.
- Sow evenly using a rotary spreader designed for seed, crossing directions (north-south, then east-west).
- Cover with about 1/4 inch of quality potting soil (avoid low-grade mixes).
- Water lightly with a fine-spray watering can to keep the soil moist without saturating it.
- Do not use a mower bag for at least 4 weeks after seeding, otherwise the seed may be sucked up.
- Applying a natural organic fertilizer is recommended to help new seedlings establish.
- Wait at least 4 weeks before applying the first mineral fertilizer.
- If conditions are extremely hot or during drought, wait for milder temperatures before seeding.
- Afterwards, maintain your lawn with a regular fertilizer program to ensure it stays beautiful, strong, and dense.
